- How are we different from other 3D/4D Ultrasound providers?
- Wombmates 3D/4D Ultrasound is a mobile 3D/4D prenatal Ultrasound provider serving the greater Phoenix area. With enough prior notice it is possible for Wombmated3d4d to travel all over the state of Arizona. That means, we bring our equipment to you, allowing you to be in the comfort of your own home surrounded by family and friends.
- Will this replace an Ultrasound ordered by my doctor?
- NO, this is an elective procedure and does not replace a diagnostic ultrasound. If you are interested in receiving a 3D/4D Ultrasound from Wombmates, you must be under the care of a prenatal healthcare provider and have already received a medical, diagnostic Ultrasound ordered by that provider that confirms your due date, screens for fetal anomalies and any other issues that are better suited for the doctors office. Remember, this is and enjoyable event one that you will remember forever.
- What is an elective prenatal Ultrasound?
- Elective prenatal Ultrasounds are Ultrasounds that expectant parents choose to do, i.e. they are not ordered by a prenatal healthcare provider.
- Why would someone want to get a 3D/4D Ultrasound?
- Expectant parents often choose elective 3D/4D Ultrasounds to see their unborn baby in clear, live 4D views that you just don't get with a traditional 2D Ultrasound. Many expectant parents feel that one diagnostic Ultrasound during a pregnancy is just not enough!
- How far along should I be for my elective Ultrasound?
- We recommend that you be at least 16 weeks along, and you must have already received a diagnostic Ultrasound ordered by your prenatal care provider. We find that the images turn out best between 26 and 34 weeks of pregnancy.
- What is the difference between 2D, 3D & 4D Ultrasounds?
- 2D ultrasounds provide a black/white two-dimensional image of your baby, and are what you typically receive in your doctor's office.
- 3D/4D Ultrasounds provide a very realistic live image of your baby and all of his/her features and movements. 3D is the picture and 4D is the movements.

- Are 3D/4D Ultrasounds safe? Are there any risks?
- Extensive studies have found that Ultrasound has not been shown to cause any harm to mother or baby. Routine scanning of all pregnancies is now normal throughout the United States. 3D/4D scanning uses exactly the same type and intensity of Ultrasound as with conventional 2D scanning. 3D/4D Ultrasound uses sound waves to look inside the body, which is similar to radar. A wand placed on the body emits sound waves into the body, listens for the return echo and generates an image. 4D Ultrasound will be similar to a conventional scan in terms of exposure.
- How long does the 3D/4D Ultrasound session take?
- The length of time varies depending on your package, but we will take our time with you to make sure that you have the best experience possible!
- Can I have my family/friends there?
- Of course you can! Because we come to your home, you have the luxury to include whoever you would like there. We have found that smaller groups can be conducive to better viewing capabilities for all, but for those larger groups, we're happy to provide a plasma screen (for a small fee) so that everyone gets a look!
- Am I guaranteed to get good pictures of my baby?
- We will do our best to get you great pictures of your unborn baby and his/her features . There are factors that determine how good the images will be ; the position of the baby, it's gestational age, and amount of amniotic fluid all are determining factors. If the baby is face down and cannot be encouraged to move, or if the baby's hands block its face, then the images will not be as clear. We will work with you to try and get the best images possible.
- Are you able to determine the gender of my baby?
- Yes, in most cases we can provide an indication of the sex of the baby as early as 15 weeks. There is no guarantee that the baby will cooperate during your session. Factors that help technologists determine the sex are body tissue content, developmental stage and fetal position. The best time to determine gender is after the baby has reached 18 weeks.
- Can I use insurance for my 3D/4D Ultrasound?
- Because this is an elective Ultrasound, it is not covered by insurance.
